日本もクリスマスや新年に集まって宴会をします。でも招待する人が違うんです。
家族と祝うのは日本ではお正月、海外ではクリスマスとなります。

日本のクリスチャンの割合は１％であり、クリスマスは商業的であるので、友達と集まって宴会をしたり、さらに少し高級な所で、恋人と豪華な食事をして高級なホテルにとまるとかをします。海外のような厳かな感じはあまりないですね。
People get together at Christmas and New Year’s and have a party in Japan, too. However, the people to invite are different from those in other countries.

So we celebrate Christmas as a commercial event, people gather with friends for a party at a rich place, have a luxurious dinner with their loved ones, and stay in a fancy hotel. There is not so much a sense of solemnity as in other countries.
