今日2/3は節分です。旧暦では、節分とはの年末で次の日の立春が新年の初日になるようです。
節分には「豆まき」をします。季節の変わり目には邪気(鬼)が発生するので、鬼を払うために「福は内、鬼は外」と言いながら豆を外にまき、年の数だけ豆を食べます。
ここまではすごく伝統的な習慣です。
そしてここ数十年の新習慣は恵方巻をたべるというものです。
大阪では昔からやっているという話もありますが、2000年の少し前から始まったという説もあります。その時は米余りに困るお米屋さんと海苔離れを心配する海苔屋さんがお寿司屋さんに働きかけ、そしてローソンが全国的に恵方巻を広げたらしいです。
今日の新聞に入っている広告は恵方巻ばかりです。

Recently a new famous custom is eating EHOMAKI=gourgeous norimaki.
People say that it has been started in Osaka a long time ago, while others say that it started a little before the year 2000.
It is said that at that time, rice makers were troubled by a surplus of rice and seaweed(=nori in Japanese) makers were worried that people were not eating nori, so they approached sushi restaurants to increase eating rice and s\seaweed, and Lawson started to spread ehoumaki throughout the country.
Today’s newspaper advertisements are all about ehomaki.
