ヘンマンの丘ヘンマンは、ご存知のようにイギリスのティム・ヘンマンに由来する。
英国人選手ティム・ヘンマンの人気と相まって、この場所はすぐに「ヘンマンヒル」というニックネームがつき、いわゆるヘンマニアの中心地となったのである。イギリスのテニスファンは、ウィンブルドンで4度準決勝に進出したヘンマンを熱狂的に支持し、彼は何度も優勝を目指し、しばしば劇的な試合を繰り広げんです。
というようにヘンマンヒルはニックネームなんです。
もともとは、アオランジテラスと言われていたのです。
Henman’s Hill Henman, as we all know, comes from Tim Henamn, the English tennis star.
Combined with the popularity of the British player Tim Henman, this place soon got the nickname “Henman Hill” and became the center of the so-called Henmania. British tennis fans enthusiastically supported Henman, a four-time semifinalist at Wimbledon, as he went on to win several championships, often in dramatic matches.
So Henman Hill is a nickname.
Originally, it was called Aorangi Terrace.
