久しぶりにヨーロッパへ行ってきましたので、ヨーロッパ記を何回にかけて書きます。
本来なら 旅行記と行きたいのですが、まずは失敗談から
Having travelled to Europe, not visiting for a long time, I intend to report my experiences several times.
Ideally, I would like to share the details of my European travels, but let us begin with a big mistake I had always thought absolutely unthinkable to make.
では質問です。
パスポートとかいつも持たないくらいのお金の入った財布を入れたリュックとかに念の為に南京錠をつけたら どちらをつけますか？
Now, a question:
For safety’s sake, if you were to lock a rucksack containing your passport and a wallet with more cash than usual using a padlock, which would you lock?
家には両方の南京錠があり、ダイヤル式のダイヤルが動かないので、鍵式を選びました。鍵閉じ込めないように注意しながら、鍵をしていたのですが、帰国のフライトで間違って、この南京錠で閉めたリュックの内側に鍵を入れて、パスポート、お金が取り出せないようになってしまいました。
焦りは100％で、寒いのに冷や汗びっしょり。
あきらめて、飛行場のエンジニアに無理やりカギを壊してもらいました。100円ショップで買った簡単なものなので、本当に簡単にこじ開けてくれて、何とかパスポートを出せました。
Both types of padlocks were available at home, but as the dial on the combination lock wouldn’t turn, I opted for the key type. Taking care not to lock the key inside, I secured it. However, on my flight backhome, I mistakenly placed the key inside the rucksack locked with this padlock, rendering my passport and money inaccessible.
I was 100% panicked, drenched in cold sweat despite the chill.
Giving up, I asked an airport engineer to forcefully break the lock. It was a simple one bought at a 100-yen shop, so he pried it open really easily, and I managed to get my passport out.
鍵は二つ持って、予備を取り出しやすいところにしまっていましたが、間違ってそれを使って、閉じ込めてしまうという大失態。
やっぱり、帰国するという安堵感でボーとしていたんでしょうね。
I always carry two keys, keeping the spare somewhere easily accessible, but I made the colossal blunder of using this one and locking myself out.
I suppose I was just spaced out with relief at finally heading home.
ですので私のおすすめはダイヤル式です。
さらに国際航空運送協会（TSA）付きだと、番号がずれても、ホテルや空港で職員の人が簡単に開けてくれます。
So my recommendation is a combination lock.
Better still, get one with TSA (Transportation Security Administration) approval. That way, even if the numbers slip out of alignment, staff at hotels or airports can easily open it for you.
