３番は PUB訪問です。
イギリスといえばPUBですね。通りには大体一つか二つあるし、前に人だかりがあるので、すぐわかります。
立ちながらビールを飲んで、お腹がすいたらご飯を食べるという感じです。
ビールといっても、日本と違って、ビールの種類多いです。大体10種類くらいは置いていますね。
ビールの注ぎ口も写真みたいにビールの種類がわかる構造になっています。
PUBは飲む場所と、食べる場所に分かれていて、飲むだけなら、座らず、チップスとビールを飲んでいます。
カウンターには多くの日が並んでいますが、順番が来るまでじっと待たないといけません。早くほしいからと言って、手を挙げて、ビールといってもサーブはしてくれません。バーテンダーはちゃんと見ていて、順番にサーブしてくれます。
シャーロックホームズのPUBもあるし、訪問するのもありですね。
でも、注意も必要です。それは次で
Number three is visiting a pub.
When you think of Britain, you cannot forget pubs. There are usually one or two on every street, and you’ll spot them straight away because there’s always a crowd outside.
It’s the sort of place where you drink beer standing up, and if you get hungry, you grab a bite to eat.
Even though it’s beer, unlike in Japan, there’s a huge variety. They usually have about ten different types on tap.
The beer taps are designed so you can tell what type of beer it is, just like in the photo.
Pubs are divided into drinking and eating areas. If you’re just drinking, you don’t sit down; you have chips and beer.
Many people line up at the counter, but you must wait patiently until your turn comes. Even if you want it quickly and raise your hand, shouting ‘Beer!’ won’t get you served. The bartender watches carefully and serves people in order.
There’s even a Sherlock Holmes pub, so visiting that could be an option.
