今日の日経新聞を読んでいて、そうなのかと疑問を持つこと、さらにびっくりした記事が数点あったので
１．お米の問題
３０年にはお米が不足する、輸入しないといけない
１面の記事で、暑さに強い米を作らないでブランド米から変えれない高齢者が多く、将来お米が不足するとのこと
文章にでてくる数字もよくわからないが、横にあるグラフを見ても、そう思えない。
これを嫁に言ったら、あんたは裏を読みすぎ、その人はそう思っていると理解したら って
２．高校野球
ビデオ判定がサーフアウトが覆ったとのこと
それはさもありなんという感じはするが、人間は誤った判断もするし、審判は一方向しか見えないので、正しい判断はむつかしいはず、だったら、全部AIで自動判定にすればいいのに、なんでしないだろう？
それより、このくそ暑い甲子園で試合をする必要があるんだろうか？
３．ラグビー
８月に日本でラグビーをするの？
冬のスポーツじゃないの？
と多くの疑問をもって朝から新聞を読んでいます
Whilst reading today’s Nikkei newspaper, there were a few articles that made me wonder if that was really the case—and some that actually surprised me.
- The rice issue
There will be a rice shortage by 2030, and we’ll have to import it.
According to a front-page article, there will be a rice shortage in the future because many elderly people are unable to switch from their favourite branded rice varieties and are not growing heat-resistant varieties.
I’m not entirely sure what to make of the figures quoted in the article, but looking at the graph alongside it, I don’t really see it that way.
When I mentioned this to my wife, she said, ‘You’re reading too much into it; just accept that’s what the writer believes.’
- High School Baseball at Koshien
Apparently, a video review overturned a ‘safe & out’ call.
That does seem plausible, but humans do make mistakes, and as umpires can only see from a single way, it must be difficult to make the correct call. In that case, why not just have AI make all the decisions automatically? Why don’t they do that?
More importantly, is there really any need to play matches at Koshien in this sweltering heat?
- Rugby
Are they playing rugby in Japan in August?
Isn’t it a winter sport?
I’ve been reading the newspaper since this morning, full of questions like these.
