でもその記事の続きで「新規がん患者が半分超がアジア」
確かにグラフではそうですね。アジアが半分1000万人くらいいるようです。
ガンにならないようにという注意喚起なんでしょうね。
でも人口比率でいえば、全然違う数字が見えます。（ラフな計算ですが）
アジア 0.2％＝1000万人÷50億人
欧州 0.6％＝400万人÷7億人
北米、中南米 0.4％＝400万人÷10億人
となります。
こうみると、欧州などは130人に一人がガン。
ちなみに、日本は100万人/13千万人で欧州と同じ数字。
こうかけば、もっとガンに注意して生活しようと言えるんじゃないのかな？

I really hope they do well.
However, the article goes on to say that ‘over half of new cancer patients are in Asia’.
The graph certainly seems to bear that out. It appears that Asia accounts for half, or around 10 million people.
I suppose this is meant to raise awareness about preventing cancer.
However, if you look at it in terms of population ratio, the figures look quite different (though this is a rough calculation):
Asia 0.2 per cent = 10 million ÷ 5 billion
Europe 0.6 per cent = 4 million ÷ 700 million
North and South America 0.4 per cent = 4 million ÷ 1 billion
That’s how it works out.
Looking at it this way, in Europe, for example, one in every 130 people has cancer.
In Japan, the figure is 1 million out of 130 million, which is the same as in Europe.
If we put it like this, wouldn’t it encourage people to be more careful about cancer in their daily lives?
