カステラはポルトガルのお菓子と思っている人が多いですよね。
でも、 ポルトガルにはカステラはありません。本当にないです。
（日本人経営のリスボンのカステラ屋さんCastella do Paulo店は閉店になりました。）
パォン デ ローPão-de-ló, sponge cakeというポルトガルのお菓子が原形で、それが進化してカステラになりました。
ちなみにカステラってお店で言ったら観光名所のお城へ連れてってくれますよ！

All the Japanese think that Castella is a Portuguese pastry, but there is no Castella in Portugal. You can never find it in Portugal.

The original Portuguese pastry is called “Pao-de-ló”, “sponge cake”, and it evolved to become Castella in Japan.
By the way, if you say “Castella” in a restaurant, they will take you to a castle, a tourist attraction!
